Rejuvenation for 2024 with Glycolic Acid and Shea Butter

by George Woodbury Jr MD - Board-certified Dermatologist and President of Big River Silk Skincare 01/29/2024

It’s a new calendar year, a great time to improve your skin’s color, texture, and tone. The Dermatologists at Big River Silk Skincare are excited to announce two new exciting releases: GlycoShea Facial&Neck Lotion and GlycoShea Hand&Body Lotion, to rejuvenate you with the power of both Glycolic Acid and Refined Shea Butter.

The GlycoShea products came out of my work as a Memphis Dermatologist since 1993, working with patients with rough skin conditions such as Keratosis pilaris and Actinic keratosis, many of whom needed skin rejuvenation strategies. Practicing in the sunbelt, I spend much of my day helping patients deal with prior sun damage and people needing Acne Treatment. These skin patients led me to explore an Alpha Hydroxy Acid called Glycolic Acid, originally discovered in sugarcane and pineapple and now the most common chemical ingredient used by Dermatologists looking for an effective Chemical peel.

So I decided to blend the beauty of Glycolic Acid with the rejuvenating properties of Refined Shea Butter. By allowing the skin to exfoliate, we can rejuvenate. The result is exfoliation, or release of older dead cells from the skin’s outmost layer, the epidermis, with fewer skin wrinkles, and improved skin color, texture, and tone.

So as President of Big River Silk Skincare Inc., I am greatly excited to release for 2024 two new Glycolic Acid skincare products:  GlycoShea™ Facial&Neck Lotion and GlycoShea™ Hand&Body Lotion. These exfoliating moisturizers employ some of the purest natural water in the United States, from the Memphis Sands, with Glycolic Acid and Refined Shea Butter. Both fragrance-free and and formaldehyde-free, the GlycoShea Lotions can be used once or twice a day to dry, rough areas of your skin, or to areas of crepey skin. They also tend to help as exfoliating moisturizers for people with Keratosis pilaris, with Acne, and with Actinic keratosis.

Big River Silk Skincare also manufactures and distributes a special moisturizer for children and babies: HypoShea Moisturizer Lotion. Fragrance-free, parabens-free, and acid-free, HypoShea Lotion can be used as a refined skin renewal cream even by very small children or people with sensitive skin conditions.

The GlycoShea Lotions work well with Big River Silk Skincare’s AmberSoy Soap Gel as a skin cleanser. AmberSoy is a soft glycerine cleanser that appeals best to people with combination skin or oily skin, especially suitable as an Acne wash or a cleanser for people with Acne, for a particularly deep clean. Best of all, Big River’s AmberSoy has no propylene glycol, no sulfates, no dyes, nor parabens. Available in Mint, Lemon, and No Fragrance Added. (1 oz: $14.95/2 oz: $22.95/8 oz: $74.95).

Big River Silk Skincare also distributes Vanicream Bar Soap (3.9 oz: $4.45) and Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser (8 oz: $10.95) for people with dry skin.

For more significant issues with skin conditions needing Acne Treatment, Eczema Treatment (Atopic Dermatitis Treatment), or Psoriasis Treatment, consider getting a check-up with a Board-certified Dermatologist. Prescription treatments often include Retin A Cream or Gel (Tretinoin) or Azelex Gel. Sometimes oral antibiotics or even Accutane (isotretinoin) prove helpful.  I have practiced as a Memphis Dermatologist with Rheumatology and Dermatology Associates, 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova TN 38018, since 1993, or you can find a Dermatologist closer to you by going to the American Academy of Dermatology website, AAD.org, then plugging your zip code into the “Find a Dermatologist” tab.
