Dermatologist on AmberSoy Cleanser&GlycoShea for Acne-prone Skincare

by George Woodbury Jr. M.D., President of Big River Silk Skincare: 05/25/2022

Acne is a type of genetically sensitive skin condition with blackheads and whiteheads leading to bumps, pustules, and even facial and truncal scarring. In over 30 years of practicing Dermatology, I’ve seen many new and effective lines of treatment emerge: prescription retinoid creams, azelaic acid, and newer oral antibiotics like Sarecycline, as well as oral medications like isotretinoin (Accutane).

If you suffer from acne, do not "pimple pop!" Do consider first setting up an appointment with a Board-certified Dermatologist. My own Dermatology practice is with Rheumatology and Dermatology, www.Rheumderm.com, in Cordova, TN, a suburb of Memphis. Or you can find a Dermatologist closer to you by going to the “Find a Dermatologist” tab on the American Academy of Dermatology web site, AAD.org.

But even with prescription creams and gels, many people with acne need effective cleansers and moisturizers to help them to deal with oily skin or combination skin, or to remedy the side-effect of dry skin that can develop with prescription creams or gel.

So in 2016, I decided to make available nationally a special exfoliating moisturizer – GlycoShea™ Facial and Neck Cream – and a special cleanser – AmberSoy™ Soap Gel – products I had used for years in my own Memphis Dermatology practice, becoming President of Big River Silk™ Skincare Inc., nationwide manufacturer and distributor.

So what’s so special about the GlycoShea Creams? Their AHAs or “Alpha-hydroxy Acids,” which promote skin exfoliation, helping to even out skin color and to reduce wrinkles, making them into anti-wrinkle creams. AHAs are often also helpful as exfoliating night cream moisturizers for people with both Acne and Acne Rosacea who are experiencing peeling from prescription anti-agents like Retin A® Cream and Benzoyl peroxide anti-acne washes.

The GlycoShea Creams blend the skin-moisturizing properties of Refined Shea Butter, a natural product from an African tree, with the skin-smoothing effects of Glycolic Acid. At Big River Silk Skincare, we blend these components into emulsions, with the purest natural water in the United States, from the Memphis Sands.

GlycoShea Facial&Neck Cream: 1 oz: $39.95/2 oz; $59.95;8 oz; $179.95

GlycoShea Hand&Body Cream/Standard Strength: 1 oz: $19.95/2 oz: $29.95/8 oz: $89.95.

GlycoShea Hand&Body Cream/High Strength: $29.95/2 oz: $44.95/8 oz; $144.95.

The GlycoShea Creams work best when used with Ambersoy™ Soap Gel, also available through Big River Silk Skincare. Ambersoy is a particularly effective cleanser because being a gel, it can be used as a face or body mask, perhaps 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off. It’s most suitable for people with oily skin or combination skin, for a particularly deep clean. Big River manufactures AmberSoy in Tennessee, under careful quality control, with no propylene glycol, no sulfates, no dyes, and no parabens.

AmberSoy is available in Mint, Lemon, and No Fragrance Added. 1 oz: $12.95/2 oz: $18.95/8 oz: $59.95.

People with dry skin generally benefit from Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser (8 oz: $11.95) or Vanicream Bar Soap ($3.95). Both are fragrance-free and propylene glycol-free (www.Bigriversilkskincare.com).

All of Big River Silk Skincare’s products are available for pick-up on site at our company headquarters, at 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova TN 38018, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, or they can ordered by calling 1-901-753-0168, or through www.Bigriversilkskincare.com (free USPS shipping for orders above $40.00, or $75.00 for Canadian; otherwise shipping and handling: $5.00).

Remember that I serve both as Big River Silk Skincare’s President and also Board-certified Dermatologist at Rheumatology and Dermatology. Many of my skincare ideas have come from observations of effective ways to use these products. So I look forward to learning from you, too.
